If your tastes are more exotic than that you are probably buying an import, but double-check if you want to be certain. Swaziland is pineapple land, at least when it comes to processing – all canned pineapple is imported from there, regardless of the brand.

The Safari, Pick ‘n Pay and Woolworths dried fruits are all local. As with the canned fruit, the more exotic your taste the less likely you are going to get local. There are no local goji berries. Although all grow in South Africa, cranberries and blueberries are likely to be imported, as are dates and figs. It’s probably a question of quantity and price.
