Rhodes, a brand of the Rhodes Food Group, sell mainly canned vegetables ‘Product of South Africa’ (exception: whole tomatoes and green peas, more about the latter in the frozen veg section below).

Miami makes canned tomatoes that are Product of South Africa.

All Gold and Koo use the less transparent ‘produced’ or ‘manufactured’ in RSA label.

JEMZ, La Belinda, Mayfair,Russo and Serena canned vegetables are imported. You can also stay away from most Pick ‘n Pay and Woolworths own label products. Many of their vegetables are imported from Europe or from further afield. The Pick ‘n Pay mushrooms in brine come from as far away as China. The Woolworths organic canned vegetables are all imported.

The own-label canned vegetables at Spar, Shoprite and Checkers (for the latter two called Ritebrand, Housebrand or CheckersChoice) are Product of RSA with the exception of baked beans and peas.
